Reedsburg Area High School is pursuing a fall sports season despite WIAA delays and cancellations in the Badger Conference.

The activities department announced that it plans to rebuild all fall sports.

If traditional Badger Conference opponents remain on the schedule, they will be considered non-conference contests.

The Reedsburg Pirates lost 10-3 against the Belleville Raiders Aug. 2.

Jake Wagner was Reedsburg’s final pitcher of the game. Lead hitters were Chris Jones with two runs and Alex Baker with two RBI doubles.

Last Friday night, Pirates team lost 16-6 against Sparta Miller.

A few sporting events have been pushed back or cancelled due to COVID-19.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s on the schedule so far.

Boys soccer

Boys JV versus Milton and Tomah at home on Aug. 29 has been cancelled.

Football

The schedule will look different. Dates, times and opponents remain up in the air. But Sauk Prairie’s athletic programs still hope to have a fall sports season.

Nobody was breaking out streamers, balloons and a cake. But the overall mood inside Sauk Prairie’s athletic department was one of great excitement last Thursday. The WIAA Board of Control voted 8-3 to attempt to have a fall sports season, although the start dates were delayed due to circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has canceled several sports seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Former Sauk Prairie  soccer standouts Evan Carlson (top) and Ella Schad (above, #9) were recently selected to the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association All-Star Game. The game itself was canceled due to the COVID-pandemic. The game was played virtually, though, with each All-Star creating a player for the game.
