To say it was a busy weekend for the River Valley Blackhawks wrestlers would be an understatement. R-V wrestled five duals against conference foes in Richland Center on Friday night before sending a full squad to the Sauk-Prairie Invite on Saturday.
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Foundation announced that the WIAA Board of Control has approved a five-year financial commitment to the Foundation, reinforcing the Association’s long-term investment in education-based athletics across Wisconsin.
A postponement last Tuesday at Wis. Rapids, with a Feb. 2 make-up date, meant just one game last week for the Reedsburg Beaver Girls Basketball team. A good McFarland team handled the Beavers last Thursday, in McFarland, by a final score of 60-39.
For the first time in just under a month, the Reedsburg Beavers played a conference boys basketball game last Tuesday, falling on the home floor vs. Edgewood by a final count of 75-39.
Ithaca/Weston’s wrestlers joined Baraboo and the La Crosse co-op for a dual meet triangular in Baraboo on Thursday night in the first competition of the week.
The season basically started over again for the Weston boys basketball team last Friday as the Silver Eagles played its first game in two and a half weeks, at La Farge. It was a rough re-set, to say the least, for the Silver Eagles who lost by a final count of 80-33.
River Valley got in some action over the holiday break in girls basketball play as the Blackhawks, under the direction of Coach Joe Woodhouse, fell by a final count of 47-42 vs. Onalaska Luther as part of a tournament in Wisconsin Dells on Dec. 30.
Reedsburg went nearly two weeks without a high school girls basketball game until playing on back-to-back days this past week at Sauk-Prairie’s Holiday Classic. The Beavers routed Portage on Dec.
For the first time since Dec. 16, the members of the Ithaca/Weston girls basketball team played a game on Monday to start this week but unfortunately it was a 72-45 setback at Boscobel. I/W hit on four shots from three-point range but only got to the foul line five times in the game.
