Reedsburg capped off another unbeaten season in the conference dual meet wrestling season last week as the Beavers complete a 6-0 Badger Small record with a convincing 69-3 rout of the Baraboo Thunderbirds in Baraboo last Thursday.
Defense was on display for both teams in last Thursday’s high school girls hockey game at the Pierce Park Pavillion as the local Badger Lightning team faced off with Beaver Dam in Badger Conference play. It was an evenly played game, but Beaver Dam was able to leave Sauk County with a hard-fought 4-2 victory.
Reedsburg had a couple of chances to pick up win number five in this high school boys basketball season this past week on the home floor but could not get it done against a couple of conference foes, Stoughton and Mount Horeb.
A large amount of postponements has disrupted the rhythm of the current boys basketball season at Weston High School but the Silver Eagles did get in two games last week. Weston’s win total for the season remained at just one after losses at Highland and Seneca.
Ithaca/Weston has won four girls basketball games this season, but the win streak is at two in a row after last Thursday’s rout of North Crawford, 51-12.
The Ithaca/Weston wrestlers won four of seven matches in their dual meet at Ithaca last week but because of forfeits, they still lost the dual to River Valley by a final score of 39-29.
Last week was one of the better ones this season for River Valley girls basketball as the Blackhawks took advantage of some home cooking to earn wins over a larger area school, Reedsburg, and a conference foe in Prairie du Chien and both were double digit victories.
Coach Luke Thatcher’s River Valley boys basketball team got its first crack at SWC leader Lancaster last week on the home floor, but the Blackhawks missed out on a chance to make a move in the conference standings after a 68-57 loss.
The week past for Badger Lightning girls hockey included a pair of shutouts, one for the good side and one for the not so good side. The Lightning won a Badger Conference game Thursday over Viroqua before falling in Menominee Saturday to the CFM Sabers and both games had 4-0 scores.
Reedsburg faced a difficult week as the girls basketball season continues. The Beavers faced three difficult opponents, two of them on the road, and despite some good moments at certain times, the Beavers went 0-3 for the week.
