Kurek tapped to succeed Stoddard as police chief for Spring Green, Plain

At its May 13 meeting, the Spring Green Village Board formally offered the job of police chief to Andrew Kurek. Kurek is a familiar face in the River Valley area, having served the department for years as a patrol officer, deputy and longtime sergeant.

Reedsburg advances in WIAA Tournament play with softball win over Wisconsin Dells

Reedsburg struggled on the softball diamond last Tuesday in the regular season finale against River Valley but followed up that game with one of their best efforts of the season to kick off the post-season two days later with a lopsided win over Wisconsin Dells to keep the season alive.

River Valley ends up 4th in SWC boys golf

Ithaca/Weston kicks off WIAA softball playoffs this week

Ithaca/Weston added a softball game to their schedule last week to avoid a long lay-off before the WIAA playoffs as I/W faced a good Dodgeville team. Freshman pitcher Marcy Lathrop threw a no-hitter at the normally potent I/W offensive attack and also walked nobody in a nine-strikeout performance as Dodgeville won 11-0.

Caz Reds open season with loss to Wisconsin Dells

The Caz Reds opened their Sunday League Home Talent Baseball schedule on Sunday afternoon with an 8-1 loss at Wisconsin Dells. Caz had just four hits with Aaron Huebsch allowing eight runs, five earned, on eight hits to go along with seven strikeouts as the losing pitcher. Sammy Clary struck out four hitters in two and 1/3 innings pitched.
