The season ended for Sauk Prairie’s girls tennis team on Oct. 7.
But those that reached the WIAA Division 1 Oconomowoc Sectional showed grit, determination and in some cases, remarkable promise for the future.
Sauk Prairie’s girls volleyball team had one of its toughest weeks of the season. And the Eagles came out of it a perfect 4-0 believing anything and everything is possible this season.
The end result wasn’t what they were hoping for.
But there was improvement, and these days, that’s something for Sauk Prairie’s football team.
Host Watertown toppled Sauk Prairie, 43-16, last Friday. The Eagles fell to 0-3 on the young season.
The WIAA Division 1 cross country subsectionals are on Oct. 20. Sectionals will be held Oct. 24.
And it certainly appears that Sauk Prairie is ready.
The Eagles’ boys won the thrilling Baraboo Triangular on Oct. 16. Sauk Prairie finished with 30 points to edge Watertown (31) and host Baraboo (72).
It had been two weeks since Sauk Prairie’s girls swimming team had a meet.
So when the Eagles got back in the pool on Oct. 6, they were ready to roll.
Sauk Prairie won every event and had the top two finishers in 10 of 11 competitions and defeated River Valley/Richland Center, 134-31.

Those associated with the Reedsburg Beaver girls tennis program celebrated their season with an awards day and get-together Saturday at Webb Park. Reedsburg conducted a dual-match only schedule this year in the midst of the pandemic and posted a 5-5 record with one draw in a singles-only match with DeForest.
Weston is on its best roll of the high school volleyball season. The Silver Eagles have won 5 straight matches after completing season series sweep over DeSoto, North Crawford and Wauzeka in recent days.
Another chapter in history is scheduled to be written on Friday night when the Reedsburg Beavers play the Baraboo Thunderbirds in high school football at Beryl Newman Stadium in Baraboo.
