“So many books, so little time to read” is the old adage, but it might also encompass, “so many authors, so little time to discover them!” Reedsburg Public Library comes to the rescue with its new Author Spotlight series, held once a month during the summer, in the library’s Community Room.

This year’s Butterfest King and Queen are Gene and Connie Krayer. They were crowned last Thursday evening at Nishan Park.

The marshals for this year’s Butterfest Parade have a special connection to the event.

They are descendants of Peter and Katherine Vosen, the first Butterfest King and Queen. They originally participated in Butterfest in 1980.

Twenty little girls had to wait a day last week before finding out who would represent the community as the new Little Miss Reedsburg.

This year’s Brat Bash & Dash will take place June 24 at Quillin’s.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Reedsburg Area United Fund volunteers will prepare and sell food to raise money for their cause. It will offer drive-up or walk-up service.

Reedsburg Area Medical Center now has a specialized area for treating children with speech and occupational therapy needs.

“How much am I bid for this fine basket of delicious vittles. Come on now fellas, put your hand in your pocket and pull out those bills.”

That’s what you might have heard back around the 1900s at an old-fashioned basket or box social. It was a way of raising money for schools, churches or other needy organizations.

A woman with Reedsburg ties has earned her degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Brooke Elizabeth Zibell earned a master’s in environmental health from the university’s Bloomberg School of Public Health. She received her degree during the commencement ceremony in Baltimore.

Scholars from throughout the area were part of the spring semester Dean’s List at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Madison College-Reedsburg campus is the first of the college’s seven locations to have a dedicated, fully outfitted Mother’s Room.

It has been equipped with a sink, refrigerator and now a state-of the-art, hygienic, closed circuit/multiuser breast pump.
