Students in grades 5–8 from St. Luke School recently participated in the Model Bridge Contest held as part of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Expo at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville.
The competition challenges students to design and construct a two-dimensional bridge using only balsa wood supplied by UW–Platteville and in accordance with specific design requirements. Once completed, the bridges are tested to determine their load-carrying capacity by adding weight until the structure reaches its breaking point.
St. Luke School had an outstanding showing at this year’s competition. In addition to having three students place in their division, St. Luke earned recognition as the middle school with the highest number of top-10 finishers.
Individual award winners included Brayden Eberle, who placed second; Camden Herfel, who earned fifth place and received special recognition for building the lightest bridge capable of supporting 200 pounds; and Bransyn Eberle, who placed tenth.
Congratulations to these talented students on their impressive accomplishments and for representing St. Luke School so well at this prestigious STEM competition.

Madison College Reedsburg recognized its spring 2026 associate degree nursing (RN) graduates at a May 14 pinning ceremony.
The ceremony honored 19 graduates who completed 66 credits of preparation, including classroom instruction, online coursework, nursing skills and simulation labs and hands-on clinical experience in patient care settings.

Madison College Reedsburg recognized its spring 2026 associate degree nursing (RN) graduates at a May 14 pinning ceremony.
The School District of Reedsburg, in partnership with the Department of Public Instruction, will offer free meals to local youth 18 and younger throughout the summer.
Throughout the spring, the River Valley School Board managed staff wages and health insurance, and it also staged a mock bus accident to better prepare for a real emergency. A proposed 3% wage increase for teachers hit a statutory snag and had to be lowered to 2.63%.
The St. Aloysius Home and School Association announced that the school’s annual Walk for Goodness’ Sake, held May 15 at the Sauk Prairie High School track, raised more than $32,000 to support new playground and recreation equipment for students.
The River Valley community gathered to celebrate 100 graduates Saturday, May 30, in Spring Green, as the Class of 2026 earned its diplomas. A bright summer morning dawned as friends and family from the region made their way to the high school. The gymnasium was at full capacity as each graduate walked across the stage to receive a diploma and flowers.
