A local grocery store will usher in autumn with a barbecue and sales.

Viking Village Foods’ Harvest Fest will take place Oct. 2 through 4.

It kicks off with the one-say seafood sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

For its October meetings, Toastmasters will again stick to an online format.

The Sauk County Institute of Leadership has wrapped up its 2020 session, and acknowledged to women in the process.

Reedsburg girl added to new agriculture council

A local is part of the first Wisconsin Agriculture Youth Council.

Sophia Larson of Reedsburg is part of the 15-member organization, which was formed this summer. Members will serve a one-year term and receive a certificate of completion at the end.

Women’s club organizes blood drive

The Reedsburg Area Women’s Club will hold a blood drive on Sept. 21.

It will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Thurber Greenwood VFW Post 1916, 200 Veteran’s Drive.

Reservations are encouraged; visit redcrossblood.org/rapidpass to sign up.

Paddlers turn out despite rainy weather during Lazy Beaver Race

Rainy weather cut back on the number of entries in the 20th Annual Lazy Beaver Canoe and Kayak Race but those who came seriously paddled, as numerous race records were set.

While some rain fell during the race, the temperatures in the mid 60s were warm enough that racers were comfortable during the race.

Commission dedicates Little Drummer Boy site, Nishan Chapel

The Historic Preservation Commission dedicated the Little Drummer Boy marker and Nishan Chapel last Wednesday despite rainy weather. The commission first gathered at the gravesite of Frank Pettis, better known as the Little Drummer Boy. His grave is located in front of the maintenance garage at Greenwood Cemetery.

Construction continues on new fitness center

Work is coming along on the construction of the new fitness facility at Reedsburg Area High School. Work began early this summer and the hope is to have the facility ready before the end of the calendar year.
