There haven’t been many good days to hit the golf course so far this month in our area but the Reedsburg Country Club did open for the season on Saturday, April 9.

Joining a book discussion group is on many people’s “bucket list” but is often a goal not realized for a number of reasons: An inconvenient time of day, a lengthy drive, and most often, the discomfort of joining a group for the first time.

Preparations have been made for Reedsburg Common Council for the next year.

Council held its usual re-organizational meeting last week following the spring election at the start of the month. The gathering gives officials a chance to take the oath of office, choose a council leader and approve contracts.

The pandemic hastened retirements in many fields, and one of those is nursing.

There was already a shortage of nurses before COVID-19 hit, and the virus only exacerbated the problem. However, it also highlighted why nurses are so important.

Hankscraft has been contracted by Thermacell to manufacture the LIV Smart Mosquito Repellent System.

The venture has allowed the Reedsburg business to expand assembly lines, add jobs and look forward to added growth.

The new system will be intended for permanent outdoor use.

Madison College’s Reedsburg campus is organizing the Celebrate a Nurse 5K.

The event will be held April 30 at the campus. Individuals and teams may sign up. Creative names and attire are encouraged. A 5K run and one-mile run/walk will start at 9:30 a.m.

Representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Public Health came to Sauk County on April 11 to show their appreciation for the Public Health Department.

The visit was part of the department’s Thank You Tour, which included an appearance from DHS Secretary-designee Karen Timberlake.

As spring approaches and everyone wants to get out of the house, why not take the family to Reedsburg Public Library’s Family Night? Family Night, held on Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
