Keith C. Grotophorst

Keith C. Grotophorst age 67, of Richland Center, WI unexpectedly passed away on August 24, 2026 after a long struggle with mental illness.

He was born to Lynn and Esther (Zech) Grotophorst on November 11, 1958. He graduated from Sauk Prairie High School Class of 1979.

Keith’s longtime home was in a peaceful and quiet valley in Ithaca Township, Richland County. It was a place that he greatly enjoyed spending his time over the years.

He was always interested in all things mechanical, and a deep thinker, and could figure out how to do just about anything if he decided to put his mind to it. And he always maintained a genuine curiosity about all of the natural world around him, self-taught in so many ways. And while you may not have noticed it, chances were that he was already thinking about things three steps ahead of you.

Keith is survived by his siblings, Mary (Bob) Johnson, David (Barbara), Ann (Harlan) Merwin, Paul, Lillian (Dennis) Stewart, Betty, Jean, Kay, and Duane (Virginia Wiggins), and his 15 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother John, and his brother-in-law Dennis Stewart.

We especially want to thank his close to home neighbors and his friends that were such an important part of his life for so many years. He usually had some stories of daily life in the valley, and always spoke very fondly of you all.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center, WI.  Private burial will be held at a later date at the Andrew Roll Cemetery in Honey Creek Township, Sauk County.  www.clarymemorialfuneralhome.com
