Albert Anthony Grell, Jr., 91, of Gotham died on Friday, August 14, 2026, at his home. He was born on May 21, 1935, in Richland County, the son of Albert and Freda (Knight) Grell Sr. Jr graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1954. On June 23, 1956, Jr was united in marriage to Lorie Wanless in Spring Green. He served in the Army during the Berlin Crisis and the Bay of Pigs and after his honorable discharge he and Lorie went to work in the family business, Grell Lumber Company, which they eventually purchased from Jr’s father and mother. The couple also owned and operated the Spring Green Bowling Alley for several years. Jr loved to play softball and was an excellent pitcher. He was selected twice to play against the King and his Court and was inducted into the Fastpitch Hall of Fame. Jr enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Jr is survived by
Three children: Mitzi (Paul) Roscizewski of Eagle,
Chip Grell of Gotham,
Dawn Eno of Spring Green;
Six grandchildren: Lauren Roscizewski,
Alexa Roscizewski,
Mason Roscizewski,
Claire (Chance) Gollon,
Emily (Patrick) Hilleman,
Jon Eno;
Great-grandchildren: Mirabella Eno, Zayliah, James Gollon;
Sister-in-law: Sharon Kramer;
Niece: Frances Grell;
Many other relatives and friends.
Jr was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Freda, wife Lorie, brothers William and Bobby Grell and nephew William Grell Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the Bear Valley Cemetery with military rites to be provided by the Local Military Memorial Honors Unit. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
