Eileen Catherine (Haag) Eberle

Eileen Catherine (Haag) Eberle, age 95, of Lone Rock, Wisconsin passed away on August 8, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia surrounded by loved ones. The daughter of David and Ethel (Feaster) Haag; she was born November 17, 1930, at her family’s home in Hartford City, Indiana.  She moved to Wisconsin at the age of 13 and lived in Hoosier Hollow just outside of Richland Center.  She attended Richland Center High School and went on to the Richland County Normal School and became a teacher.  She was married on July 17, 1951, to Lawrence Ulrich Eberle at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richland Center. Eileen had a great passion for teaching. She taught at Balmoral School in Muscoda, Wisconsin, Little Bear School near Lone Rock, Wisconsin, Fair Valley School near Sauk City, Wisconsin, St. Luke’s in Plain, Wisconsin, and St. John’s in Spring Green, Wisconsin.  She continued her teaching education at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, obtaining a master’s degree in education. Upon completing her master’s, she began her last teaching job at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School in Monona, Wisconsin, teaching middle school science.  She retired in 2006 after 40 years of teaching, but continued to enrich others’ lives. Eileen was an active member of many groups in her community.  As a member of HCE (Home and Community Education: aka Richland County Homemakers) for 61 years, she helped create a reading program in the local schools.  She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for 25 years.  For over 60 years she was a very active member in 4-H and a leader in the Big Hollow Bears 4-H Club, being inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame in 2014. She believed in safety and was deeply passionate about helping the youth of tomorrow grow and strive. Eileen was the wife of a dairy farmer, Lawrence Eberle, and together they created many Dairy Promotion projects, especially turning Lawrence’s idea of the River Valley School Fair into reality. She was also the Clerk for the township of Bear Creek for 38 years and enjoyed helping the community grow and change. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, twin son and daughter Lawrence Jr. and Angeline, father David Haag, mother Ethel (Feaster) Haag, brother Paul Haag, sisters Theresa Haag, Christina (Darold) Fairbrother, Sue (Roger) Berg, brothers-in-law Richard Torgeson, James Gruber, Darold Fairbrother, and Roger Berg, son-in-law Vincent Frawley, and other family and friends. Eileen is survived by 5 children: Luanne (Steve) Greenheck of Dodgeville, Randall (Darla Christian) Eberle of Baraboo, Jo-Ellen Frawley (partner, Jim) of Richland Center, Diane Lombardo of Mason, Ohio,  and Angela (Joe) Droll of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 15 grandchildren: Ryan Greenheck (partner, Lynn), Josh (Becky) Greenheck, Kyle (Kacie) Greenheck, Mike Eberle, Amanda Eberle, Bridget (Jeremy) Thomas, Rachel (Kelly) Fruit, Eric (Bridgette) Frawley, Sydney Lombardo, Sadie Lombardo, Lauren Lombardo, Robert Droll, Lucas Droll, Tyler Droll, and Isabella Droll; 15 great-grandchildren: Frances Greenheck, Kinsley Greenheck, Freya Greenheck, Jack Eberle, Madeline Eberle, Michaela Eberle, Sophie Eberle, Penelope Eberle Page, Hadlee Thomas, Brooks Thomas, Finley Fruit, Emerson Fruit, Scarlett Fruit, Adeline Fruit, Cade Frawley; brothers Clarence (Erlinda) Haag and Dick (Pam) Haag; and sisters Harriet Torgeson and Jo Gruber; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 11 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green, Wisconsin, immediately followed by a luncheon at the Wisconsin Riverside Resort in Spring Green from 12 P.M. – 2 P.M., with burial at 2:30 P.M. in the St. Kilian’s Cemetery at the intersection of St. Killians Rd and Brown Church Dr in Lone Rock, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 4 P.M. – 7 P.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church and again on Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of the Mass.
