Letter: Who is committing election fraud?

Despite allegations of voter fraud by Donald J Trump and his sycophants, which have been found false in over 60 court cases, he continues his mission to gain control over elections. Although unconstitutional, his announcement of his plan to nationalize elections  is just one step toward his goal of dictatorship.

Nature and Society Feb. 5, 2026

Nature met society with a bang this week. A squirrel fell out of a tree and landed on the street just as a friend of mine was driving by. She passed the squirrel and began an argument with herself. Stop and see if she can help the little animal. No, it's going to die, what is the point? Still, she could move it off the street.

STANEK COLUMN: Decluttering is real chore for the easily distracted

Why is it that more stuff seems to magically appear whenever you decide to declutter?

Letter: Vouchers cause school aid problems

In the past year, under the present regime, we have invaded countries, pardoned traitors and criminals, and made excuses for sexual perverts in our government. America has hit rock bottom with the killing of two American citizens, a mother and an ICU nurse, on the streets of Minneapolis.

Letter: Resistance starts with us

As governance of our republic hangs in the balance, one might wonder how experienced, highly informed people in positions of power could fail – day after day – to take definitive action in opposition to Trump’s global carnival of death and destruction.

Letter: Protections should not vary

The GOP wants "constitutional protection for thee, but not for me." Kyle Rittenhouse, too young for a legal gun permit walking the streets brandishing an AR15-style semi-automatic rifle? Fine. A 37 year old Boy Scout, ICU nurse, and holder of a lawful concealed carry permit? Executed by masked agents of the government.

Letter: Johnson’s selective outrage

Minneapolis residents Renée Good and Alex Pretti were fatally shot by ICE and U.S. Border Patrol agents. In response, Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) posted on X:

"Alex Pretti and Renée Good would be alive today if leaders like @GovTimWalz and @MayorFrey hadn’t encouraged them to go into harms way to harass and obstruct law enforcement."
