Storytime will be on break from Monday, August 24 until Wednesday, September 9. Miss Tori is finishing up with summer programs and preparing for the fall. Storytime will return on Monday, September 14.
FOOD PRESERVATION 101

Interested in preserving your garden produce? Join us for a presentation on home food preservation and discover research-based techniques for safely preserving foods at home. Topics will include: common food preservation methods including canning, freezing, and drying; key principles for safe water bath and pressure canning; and how to identify and use reliable, research-based food preservation resources. A free dial-gauge pressure canner testing will be available after the presentation to ensure your equipment is operating accurately and safely.

Join us in welcoming Inga Witscher, a local Wisconsin farmer and host of the PBS series of Around the Farm Table. She will be presenting a cooking + wellness class centered on food as self-respect. Part demo, part storytelling, part emotional wellness session — we’ll make a seasonal lentil salad together, and she’ll share how simple, whole food cooking helped her reclaim joy, energy, and her sense of self after years of burnout.

SAUK PRAIRIE COMMUNITY READ
Book release Tuesday, September 1
Join us for our sixth annual community read, continuing to focus on social isolation and loneliness. Free copies of Mattering: the Secret to a Life of Deep Connection and Purpose by Jennifer Bregeny Wallace will be available at both libraries starting Tuesday, September 1. The book discussion will be on Saturday, October 10 10:00-11:00a.m. at the George Culver Community Library.
1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN
Can you read 1,000 books with your child before they start kindergarten? Children and parents can earn incentives and small prizes along the way. The real reward: kids who are excited and ready to learn. Parents whose children who have not yet started 5K can sign up by visiting the library.
BOOK SALE
The library book sale is open during regular library hours. Browse used books and movies for all ages at reasonable prices in the library’s reading area. New items are added weekly. All proceeds benefit the library via the Friends of the George Culver Community Library.

Hitch Bike Rack
Do you want to take your bike on a trip, but don’t own a bike rack? If you have a hitch, consider checking out our hitch bike rack. Our hitch bike rack is an Allen Sports Model 522RD and holds 2 bikes. It attaches to 2’’ receiver hitches or Class II 1 ¼’’ hitches. Check out is two weeks. Patrons must be 18 or older to check out this thing.

Have a librarian pick out books and movies selected specifically for you! Fill out the form on our website, saukcitylibrary.org, to let us know what you’re interested in. A librarian will select movies or books for you and call to arrange pick-up.
PUZZLE SWAP
Bring in your gently-used puzzles (in good condition, with all the pieces) and exchange for new ones. No puzzles to share? No worries - donations are not required to take part in the fun. Feel free to return puzzles when you are done, or keep them forever.
