Alva Mae Schlieckau

Alva Mae Schlieckau, 93, formerly of Loganville passed away peacefully Saturday August 22, 2026, at Our House Senior Life Center in Reedsburg. Alva was born April 19, 1933, to Walter and Caroline Grosklaus near Leland, Wisconsin. 

On November 1, 1952, Alva married the true love of her life, Walter Schlieckau, in Baraboo, Wisconsin. A celebration and dance followed at the Rock Springs Community Center in Rock Springs, Wisconsin. Walter and Alva raised four amazing sons on the family farm, south of Loganville. Alva enjoyed working on the farm and you could find her feeding calves and raking hay when needed. There was always the belief to work hard but enjoy life as well. They enjoyed many special trips over the years with good friends. She was a prior member of the Sauk County Homemakers and volunteered for many years at the hospital thrift store - Resale Beyond the Expected. Alva had a fun loving spirit and she always loved a good game of Yahtzee, a chance to play bingo, and especially cards with the Reedsburg Senior Citizens group. 

Alva is survived by her sons David (Sharon), Robert (Mary), Darrell (Sharyl), and Randy (Penny) all of Loganville; grandchildren Lora (Scott) Dadam, Heidi (Mark) Kruse, Kristine (Zachary) Klemp, Robert Jr. (Lisa) Schlieckau, Sylvia Schlieckau, Maddy Selje (Clayton Gilliam), Lexi Selje (Brennan Mellem), and Drew Selje; along with great grandchildren Elijah, Jarius, and Asher Dadam; Joseph and David Kruse; Brayden, Lucillia, Aspen, and Hazel Klemp; and, Hunter Schlieckau. She is further survived by her brother Wayne (Kitten) Grosklaus of Baraboo; brother and sister in law Henry and Jan Schlieckau of Reedsburg; and nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Walter, on March 29, 2023; her great grandchildren Cecelia and Gabriel Dadam; sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and William Lynch; brother-in-laws Harold (Beverly) and August Jr. Schlieckau and sisters-in-laws Frieda (Victor) Craker, Adeline (Joseph) Stimac, Louise (Dwayne) White, Dorothy (Ray) Albers, Beverly (Richard) Schultz and Marion (Edwin) Roecker.
