Susan I. Niemi

Lodi--Susan I. Niemi, age 82, of Lodi, Wisconsin, peacefully passed away at her home on Lake Wisconsin, surrounded by her beloved family, on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Born on April 9, 1944, in Eau Claire, WI, Susan was one of nine children of Albert and Loretta (Livermore) Frueh.

Susan graduated from Fairchild High School in 1962 and married her lifelong partner Robert Niemi on July 6, 1963, in Fairchild.  

Susan enjoyed a successful career at GTE retiring from management in 1995.

She was a passionate gardener, avid boater, and enthusiastic camper. 

Susan is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Robert; her son, William of Boulder Junction, WI; her daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Carey Clark of Lake Wisconsin; and her cherished grandchildren, Samantha and Zachary Niemi.  She was preceded in death by her parents and all eight of her siblings.

Family and friends are invited to Susan’s Celebration of Life on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at West Point Town Hall, N2114 Rausch Rd, Lodi.  A service led by Chaplain Derrick Rosenstiel will be held at 1:00 PM.

The family expresses special gratitude to Grandma Sue’s adopted family, the Thiele’s of Lake Wisconsin. 

A heartfelt thank you is also extended to the “angels of Agrace Hospice,” whose compassionate care made Susan’s journey home peaceful.

Susan will be deeply missed for her gentle nature, infectious smile, kindness to all and love for her family. Her legacy of kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
