Darlene Mae (Johnson) Meixelsperger

Darlene Mae (Johnson) Meixelsperger, 79, of Plain, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026 after a long battle with kidney and heart disease. Darlene was born on August 7, 1946, the youngest child of Alvin and Alma (Mickelson) Johnson. On June 10, 1967 she married the love of her life, Dave Meixelsperger. Together they raised their children on a dairy farm outside of Plain. While working on the farm with Dave, she held a few off farm jobs including Graber’s, Gruber’s Cheese Factory, and cleaning & painting houses with her sisters. Growing up the baby of 13 siblings, Darlene learned the importance of family at an early age. Darlene enjoyed traveling around the country with Dave, fishing with her sisters & cousins, playing Trouble, doing crossword puzzles, listening to classic country music, and spending time with family & friends. She especially loved having her three grandkids stop in for cookie breaks while working on the farm. Darlene is survived by her daughter, Doreen (Curt) Laack, son Dean, grandchildren Kristina (Carson) McCauley, Curtis (Briana), and Walker Laack; great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Kingsley, Henry, and Annaliese. She is further survived by her brother Tommy (Luci) Johnson; sisters Alner Pletzer, Carol Nachreiner, Dorothy Bowell, Delores Gruber, and JoAnn Hill; along with many other relatives. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Dave, son Davey, infant daughters Tina and Dawn, along with her siblings Albert, Johnny, Jerry, and Mary Ellen Johnson, Alyene Alt, and Shirley Nachreiner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Plain.  Fr. Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com.
