On the Same Page: Upcoming week at Reedsburg Public Library
Summer events continue next week with a variety of activities for youth and adults. Both groups are reminded to pick up their July reading logs and Bingo cards. Youth may still pick out the free book earned for successful June reading. As a reminder, Loganville Little Library will not be meeting this Thursday, July 9, since it’s Sauk County Fair Week.
This week Reedsburg Writers continue to work on their individual writing and illustrating projects on Monday, July 6, at 10 a.m. As a reminder, participants must be present for either the July 27 or Aug. 3 meeting for their story to be included in the summer 2026 publication. Later on Monday, Teen Time (Grades 6-12) students will enjoy a fabric painting session at 2 p.m. Bring your own t-shirt or use one provided to create a new summer fashion trend.
The Time Travelers (Grades K-2) will be “unearthing” stories about Ancient Egypt on Tuesday, July 7, at 2 p.m. Mummy racing is the activity for the day.
Discovery Days (Grades 3-5) participants will be digging for dinosaurs on Thursday, July 9, at 2 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. Several fossil digging stations will be available for students to unearth dinosaurs in sand, ice and other materials. Register to participate by 2 p.m. July 8.
Adults are invited to RPL’s Local History and Genealogy Meet Up on Wednesday, July 8, at 1 p.m. The group will meet at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, (325 Mill St., Loganville), where local historian Dale Meyer will present the display and timeline created for the 150th anniversary of the Church. Weather permitting, Meyer will escort the group down Main Street, pointing out the historic buildings and events of Loganville’s past. Most stops will also feature an original building model created by local resident Arold Hamburg.
The 250th anniversary of the United States is commemorated on Monday, July 13, at 6 p.m. with a special presentation by RAHS History Instructor David Moon. His topic is Founding Friends, American Rivals: Adams, Jefferson, and the Creation of America. Moon describes Adams and Jefferson as the original American “Odd Couple.” Despite their differences they came together at the founding of our country. Because of their differences they were bitter rivals as the early republic was nearly torn apart. In between they became friends while serving in Europe, a friendship rekindled as they became America’s most famous pen pals. This presentation will trace the birth and development of early America through the careers of these two fascinating men. Stay for refreshments after the presentation.
The year 2026 also marks 50 years since Reedsburg was named a bicentennial community. Reedsburg Public Library has scanned and digitized many of the booklets and programs produced in Reedsburg for the bicentennial celebration, and they may now be viewed on the RecollectionWisconsin website (www.reedsburglibrary.org).
