Helen Delfeld, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on May 9th at the age of 98. Born into a generation defined by resilience and grace, Helen lived a long and meaningful life centered around compassion, family, and quiet strength. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Francis “Frank” Delfeld, who passed away far too young at the age of 44. Though she carried that loss throughout her life, Helen continued forward with remarkable courage and unwavering love for her family. Helen was a devoted mother to her daughter, Frances, and her son, Thomas, and a proud grandmother to her grandson, James, Throughout her life she remained unwaveringly dedicated to ensuring their wellbeing and success. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every gathering, conversation, and memory shared together. Helen also had a deep affection for animals, especially cats, whose companionship brought her comfort and happiness throughout the years. When Helen was not traveling the world, she could often be found curled up in a comfortable chair with a mystery or detective novel by her side. She happily immersed herself in these stories that reflected her sharp mind and boundless curiosity. Before her retirement, Helen worked as a respected scientist at the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin, where she took immense pride in helping others through her work. She believed deeply in caring for people and found purpose in contributing to something larger than herself. Her dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression on those who knew her professionally and personally. Helen will be remembered for her strong spirit, intelligence, enduring love for family, and her remarkable ability to persevere through life’s hardships with dignity and kindness. Though she will be deeply missed, her warmth, wisdom, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family takes comfort in imagining her reunited at last with Frank, the man she loved more than anything.
