As you begin to fill in your 2025 planners and online calendars, Reedsburg Public Library has a number of programs to add to your list!

In January, the Friends of the Reedsburg Public Library kick off the month with their annual membership meeting on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. If you are not already a member, this is a great time to come and see what the Friends Group is all about. Jan. 9 through 12, the Friends will hold their first book sale of the year in the Community Room during Library open hours.

Youth services programming begins again the week of Jan. 13 with the return of library favorites including Babygarten, Preschool Storytimes, and Teen Time. In a change from the fall, Kid’s Club will now meet in place of After School Book Club on Thursdays at 4 p.m. Each week the group will rotate activities such as Lego building, Pokémon, and art and STEM activities.

On Thursday, Jan. 16, at 5:30 p.m. a representative from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection will talk about landlord and tenant rights and responsibilities under Wisconsin law. As a part of the presentation, landlord and tenant resources will be available.

St. John’s Lutheran Church’s Caring for Creation Committee, together with the Reedsburg Public Library, will be hosting their First Annual Craft Swap on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.in the library’s Community Room. This is a great opportunity to donate items you no longer need, and acquire materials to start a new hobby.

Friday, March 14, marks Pi(e) Day at the Reedsburg Public Library, where once again the Friends group will sell delicious homemade pies with proceeds benefiting library collections and programs.

On Saturday, April 5, typewriter collector Bob Walker will present his Type-In Program in the library’s Community Room. Walker’s collection includes over twenty typewriters dating from the 1880’s to the 2000’s. Participants in the program will learn about this range of typewriters and will be able to do their own typing on Walker’s machines or their own. All ages are invited to this program to celebrate either the nostalgia or the novelty of typewriting.

Jessica Michna of Historical First Impressions will return to RPL on Monday, April 14, at 6: p.m. to present the program, Women Who Dared. The presentation will feature Cristabel and Emmeline Pankhurst, Susan B. Anthony, Elisabeth Cady Stanton and others who paved the way for women’s suffrage.

Historian Larry Desotell will visit the library on Tuesday, May 6, at 6 p.m. to present a program on Wisconsin’s 19th Infantry, Company A, in which many Reedsburg area soldiers participated. Desotell is the author of a book about Confederate prisoners of war in Wisconsin and his work has appeared in the Wisconsin Magazine of History.
