Most Wisconsin conifers are evergreen and have needle-shaped leaves. Others are scale-like. A few conifers are deciduous, tamarack for example. Ginkgo has board leaves and is deciduous. Conifers have two cone types, seed and pollen, but only seed cones remain on the tree for a year or more.
