Next week’s schedule at the Reedsburg Public Library includes Stories & S’mores around the campfire, a Teen Escape Room, Water Exploration, and Painting with Broccoli for Adults!
On Tuesday, July 23, at 6 p.m. families should plan to meet Miss Heather and Miss Steph at the Hartje Center (located on Highway V just outside of Reedsburg) for campfire stories, songs, crafts and s’mores. All of the craft materials and fixings for s’mores – graham crackers, marshmallows and Hershey bars, will be provided. Small children should be supervised by their parents. This outing counts for the “Camp Explorer” badge/pin on the summer library lanyard!
On Wednesday, July 24, Teen Time at 1 p.m. is an Escape Room. Students Grades 5 through 12 will solve a series of puzzles to earn map pieces to reveal the grand escape!
Students entering Grades K through 5 may earn their “Water Explorer” pin by attending Discovery Days on Thursday, July 25, at 2 p.m. on the library’s back lawn, weather permitting. Youth will enjoy water sensory experiments, bubbles and water fun. In the case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the library’s Community Room. Be sure to sign up at least 24 hours in advance either on the library’s online calendar or via a phone call to the library.
Adults will not be left behind in the fun next week as Grown up Monday Fun Day will feature Painting with Broccoli. Join us on Monday, July 22, at 2 p.m. in the library’s Community Room to get creative with broccoli pointillism! All paints, canvases and broccoli will be provided!
Also, mark your calendars for the following Thursday, Aug. 1, at 6 p.m. when Paul Wolter, executive director of the Sauk County Historical Society, visits the library to present, The Baraboo River – A Cultural History. Wolter will talk about the river from its early use by indigenous peoples thousands of years ago, through fur trading days and the arrival of early white settlers, to its present recreational use. There is no fee or registration required for the program.
Speaking of recreation, remember that you can use your library card to obtain a day pass valid at any one of Wisconsin’s 50 State Parks. You must provide library staff with your library card as well as the date you plan to use the pass. You may plan a park outing up until Dec. 31.
