Headlining the library’s program schedule for next week are two events for all ages, international folk dancing and Cryptids of Wisconsin and Illinois.

On Monday, July 15, at 5:30 p.m., Jane Leussler will return to the library to repeat her popular introduction to international folk dancing, which she facilitated last month. Participants will learn circle dances, mixers and trios from many parts of the world. All dances will be taught and no prior experience is necessary. The program is free and appropriate for all ages from preschool to senior citizens and for all abilities! Preschoolers and elementary age children should come with an adult who will also be participating.

On Tuesday, July 16, at 6 p.m., enjoy a program on the Cryptids of Wisconsin and Illinois in the library’s Community’s Room. The term “cryptid” may be cryptic to many, but the Merriam Webster Dictionary defines it as “an animal (such as Sasquatch or the Loch Ness Monster) that has been claimed to exist but never proven to exist.” Barnaby Jones of the Cryptids, Anomalies and Paranormal Society will present the program which covers creatures from Bigfoot to Dog Man to dragons, lake monsters and more! The presentation is fascinating and appropriate for all ages.

On Wednesday, July 17, Teen Time at 1 p.m. will feature the showing of the fourth installment of the “Kung Fu Panda” series. Students Grades 6 through 12 are invited to bring blankets, pillows and comfy chairs to the Community Room. Popcorn will be served, and the movie run time is 94 minutes. No registration is necessary.

On Thursday, July 18, Discovery Days participants (Kindergarten through Grade 5) will experiment with a tie dye project. Create your own design using the rubber band technique. Bring your own pre-washed T shirt, pair of socks or other cotton item to die. Be aware that this project may get messy, so dress appropriately. Registration is required 24 hours in advance on the library’s homepage or via phone call to the library.

Next week, adults are also invited to Grown Up Monday Fun Day on July 15, as well as the Evening Book Discussion on July 18. The Monday Fun Day activity at 2 p.m. will be card games, including euchre.

On Thursday, at 6 p.m., Evening Book Discussion participants will talk about, “The Wind Knows My Name” by Isabel Allende in the library’s Conference Room, or via Zoom. The morning book discussion group will talk about the same title on Tuesday, July 23, at 10 a.m. According to NovelistPlus, the book traces the ripple effects of war and immigration on two children, one in 1938 Austria, and another in contemporary El Salvador. Several copies of the book are available for checkout at the library.
