Don’t miss out on activities this coming week at Reedsburg Public Library! There is something for everyone and all ages, including RPL’s own iconic worm races!

On Monday, July 8, at 10 a.m., Reedsburg Writers will continue working on their summer projects. The group is open to all youth who are able to write independently, and it’s not too late to join! At 2 p.m. Grown Up Monday Fun Day will be held in the Library’s Community Room. Join us to do a stained glass marker coloring project. No registration is required, and all supplies will be provided.

On Tuesday, July 9, at 6 p.m., Family Fun Night for all ages will feature Worm Races on the back lawn, weather permitting. Choose your own real live worm racer and cheer him on as he makes his way from the center of the circular race track to its edge. Worms and their winners will receive appropriate ribbons as well as bragging rights for the next year! After the racing event, families will enjoy a chocolate cake dirt cup treat complete with gummy worms. In the event of rain, the program will be held in the Community Room.

On Wednesday, July 10, Babygarten meets in the Community Room at 10 a.m. Babies and toddlers, 0-2 years, their caregivers and siblings are invited to enjoy rhymes, songs and free play. No registration is required. At 1 p.m., Teen Time will be devoted to video games projected on the big screen. Come prepared to play your favorite games including Mario Super Smash Brothers and Guitar Hero!

On Thursday, July 11, join the Loganville Little Library gathering at the Loganville Village Hall at 10 a.m. for stories and crafts. At 2 p.m. Discovery Days participants (K-grade 5) will enjoy a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) project in the library’s Community Room. Towers and bridges will be constructed using popsicle sticks, spaghetti, toothpicks and marshmallows. Students must be registered 24 hours in advance to participate.

The STEAM theme will continue with stories and crafts at Story Time and Lunch Bunch on Friday, July 12, at 10 a.m. and noon, respectively.

Participants in the youth paper reading challenge should remember to pick up their free book with their completed June reading logs, and to pick up the reading log for July. Keep working on summer explorer challenges to earn all possible buttons/pins for your lanyard!

Oversize picture books are a new collection in the children’s area of the library. More than 30 titles include “The Tawny Scrawny Lion,” “Mouse Paint” and “Time for Bed.” These big books can be checked out and are perfect for small daycare groups, or just fun to look at on your own.
