On the Same Page: Local adventures kick off and programs start next week at Reedsburg Public Library
Summer library programs for all ages begin next week at the Reedsburg Public Library! This year the theme for the summer program is Adventure Begins at Your Library, and the library is just the starting point! In addition to literacy challenges and in-library programs, this year RPL encourages readers to get outdoors! At the kickoff, representatives of SOAC (Summer Outdoor Adventure Club) and the Reedsburg Chamber of Commerce will present some amazing opportunities for outdoor exploration.
Pick up your Reedsburg Parks Passport at the program, learn how to check out a Wisconsin State Parks day pass with your Reedsburg library card and enter your name to win door prizes including local trail passes and attraction tickets.
In-library programs begin on Monday, June 10, at 10 a.m. with the first Reedsburg Writers session. Reedsburg Writers is a weekly program open to children and teens who are able to write independently. Participants will write and illustrate stories of their own choosing leading up to their publication party on Aug. 5. In the afternoon, the inaugural meeting of Grown-Up Monday Fun Day will be held in the Community Room at 2 p.m. This group will meet monthly throughout the summer for movies, crafts and games. On June 10, enjoy a showing of last year’s blockbuster hit starring Barbie.
On Tuesday, June 11, in addition to the Summer Library Kickoff, Reedsburg Readers I and II will meet in the library’s Community Room from 2 to 3 p.m. Registration is required for these groups. At the first meeting, Reedsburg Readers I (grades 1-2) and Reedsburg Readers II (grades 3-4) will receive the first book of the summer. In the following weeks, the groups will alternate meeting at the library at 2 p.m. on Tuesdays for book discussion and fun activities.
On Wednesday, June 12, the first summer Babygarten will be held at the library at 10 a.m. Youth ages 0- 24 months, their parents or caregivers, and siblings are invited to join Miss Heather for 45 minutes of rhymes, songs, books and free play. In the afternoon youth entering Grades 6 to 12 can enjoy Teen Time from 1 to 2 p.m in the library’s Community Room.
On Thursday, June 13, enjoy Loganville Little Library in the morning and Discovery Days in the afternoon. Youth Services staff will bring the library to the Loganville Village Hall at 10 a.m. for stories and crafts each Thursday through August 8. At 2 pm in the library’s Community Room, the first Discovery Days of the summer will be held for youth entering kindergarten through fifth grade. Participants must be registered 24 hours in advance.
On Friday, June 14, the season’s first Lunch Bunch storytime will be held on the library’s back lawn at noon. Families should bring a sack lunch and blanket and enjoy stories, music and a craft. The same storytime will be offered at 10 a.m. in the library, without lunch.
