On the Same Page Sauk Prairie: Conservation Alliance, Senior Monday Fun Day and more at RPL
If you are curious about what is happening with the land associated with the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant, now is your chance to find out! On Wednesday, Jan. 17, Grace Vosen, executive director of the Sauk Prairie Conservation Alliance, will give a presentation at 6 p.m. in Reedsburg Public Library’s Community Room.
Vosen has been involved with the group for the past 10 years and specializes in communications, botany and prairie restorations. In her presentation, Vosen will show two short films covering the general history of the Badger Army Ammunition Plant as well as the re-use process after it was decommissioned. Today, the land is divided among landowners including the Ho-Chunk Nation, the USDA Dairy Forage Research Center and the Sauk Prairie Recreation Area. The Alliance facilitates cooperation between the owners and a number of land restoration projects. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
This coming Monday, Jan. 15, Assistant Library Director Caitlin Opatik will host a Senior Monday Fun Day in the Library’s Community Room starting at 2 p.m. You don’t have to be a senior to join in the fun! This month’s activity will be a card playing session featuring various old-fashioned card games including Euchre!
On Thursday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m., a new year of RPL book discussions begins with “The Thursday Murder Club” by Richard Osman. The same title will be discussed again at the morning book discussion on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. You may participate in either group in person or via Zoom. Call the library if you would like the Zoom invitation. Participants will enjoy this first entry in Osman’s popular series about a group of seniors in an Assisted Living Community who bring local criminals to justice. There are plenty of copies of the book available at the Library to be checked out.
Reedsburg Public Library Youth Services programs on the schedule for next week include the Multi-Age Play group at 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15; Teen Time on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 4 p.m.; After School Book Club on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 4 p.m.; and Story and Play time for preschoolers and their families on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 18 and 19, at 10 a.m. All programs will be held in the Library’s Community Room.
