City of Reedsburg recognized for preservation efforts

The Wisconsin Historical Society has presented a special designation to the City of Reedsburg.
It is now a Certified Local Government under the organization. It will now share the honor with 75 other Wisconsin governments.
The CLG program is a voluntary partnership between government entities, the State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service. To qualify for the program, communities must adopt a local historic preservation ordinance that meets set requirements. It must also have a historic preservation commission that oversees the ordinance.
As a CLG member, Reedsburg will have access to grant funding for historic preservation projects. It will also be able to obtain expertise and policy guidance through the State Historic Preservation Office.
