Eagles’ hockey co-op seeded third

It’s been a magical regular season for Sauk Prairie’s co-op hockey team. And now, the Eagles — which include skaters from Mount Horeb — have a chance to make it an unforgettable postseason. Sauk Prairie received the No. 3 seed in its sectional and will host either sixth-seeded Reedsburg or 11th-seeded Middleton in a WIAA Division 1 regional final Thursday 7 p.m. The winner of that game advances to a sectional semifinal Feb. 9. The sectional final is slated for Feb. 12 at the Omni Center in Onalaska. Madison Edgewood is the No. 1 seed, followed by Verona, Sauk Prairie, Onalaska, Waunakee, Reedsburg, Tomah/Sparta, Baraboo/Portage, Sun Prairie, Aquinas and Middleton. Sauk Prairie improved to 12-1 on the season last week with a pair of wins. The Eagles defeated McFarland, 8-3, on Jan. 25 and downed Milton, 6-0, on Jan. 28. In the Eagles’ win over McFarland, Luke Mast had three goals, while Erik Peterson had two goals and two assists. Landon Clary also had two goals and Samson Begalske added a goal. Hakon Peterson had five assists, while Ethan Tranel, Nick Mast, Bradie Trollop both added two assists. In the Eagles’ win over Milton, Nick Mast had two goals and two assists, while Hakon Peterson had two goals.
