Bridge closure delayed

The Highway 23 bridge over the Wisconsin River near Spring Green will not shut down until Oct. 26.

Initially, the DOT had planned to close the bridge for replacement on Oct. 19.

Once construction begins, the bridge will be closed to traffic. Alternate routes include Highways 14 and 130.

The bridge is scheduled to reopen for one-lane traffic in June 2021, with the project wrapping up in September of next year.

The project entails replacing the deck and guardrails and repainting.

The river will remain open to boaters.
