Sauk County COVID-19 cases drop below 5 percent positive

Sauk County’s positive coronavirus results have fallen below five percent of all tests, which puts the county in the “green” for 14-day progress.

As of Aug. 27, the percent of positive tests was 4.3 percent for the past 14 days, below the five-percent benchmark.

If positive tests are between five and 10 percent, the county is considered in the yellow, and it’s red if the number is more than 10 percent.

However, the county is still in the red for daily positive tests. The county has been averaging more than 10 positive cases each day. Ideally, that number would be below six positive cases per day for a two-week period.

Since earlier this year, there have been 636 positive tests in Sauk County, and 583 people have recovered. Active cases have fallen by five to 49, and there have been no new hospitalizations or deaths. There have been 46 more negative tests, bringing that total to 17,008.

Several sites across Sauk County are still offering testing. Reedsburg Area Ambulance Service does tests from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesdays at its office, 230 Railroad St. Appointments required; visit https://forms.gle/m6xoEA5SkMgW8RA18.

There will also be walk-up testing from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in Baraboo. Appointments aren’t required.
