Mayor David Estes of Reedsburg signs the Buddy Poppy Proclamation for the Thurber-Greenwood VFW Post 1916 Auxiliary on May 6 because it is Buddy Poppy Month. The proclamation recognizes the poppy distribution project, which strives to remind Americans of those who’ve sacrificed and died for their country. Veteran volunteers will offer poppy decorations at area stores for donation, and the mayor encourages as many people as possible to wear one in honor of veterans and their contributions.
