It was a rough go for the Weston Silver Eagle girls basketball team last week as they made the short trip to battle rival Ithaca in a Ridge and Valley Conference contest.
Ithaca was in control from the outset on the way to a 69-24 victory last Tuesday night.
The conference season began Friday night for the RWD skaters as the Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells/Mauston boys high school hockey co-op played its first game of the Badger West season in Oregon against the Panthers.
RWD’s late rally forced OT but the home team emerged with a 3-2 win.
Five Reedsburg Special Olympics athletes competed in the State bowling tournament in Wausau on Dec. 5. Things are off to a fine start for the Ithaca/Weston wrestlers after I/W knocked off a couple of traditionally strong programs last week to open the dual meet season.
Weston could not carry over the momentum from an opening night win in high school boys basketball last week. The Silver Eagles dropped a non-conference game on the home floor and also lost the conference opener on the road.
Weston played well at times but came up short on the scoreboard in a pair of high school girls basketball games last week. The Silver Eagles lost on the home floor vs. Necedah before falling on the road at Seneca in the Ridge and Valley Conference to close out the week.
The Reedsburg Beaver gymnastics team is poised for another big season with the girls opening the competition season Friday night in Baraboo. The last two seasons of Reedsburg Beaver gymnastics have been two of the best in school history with back-to-back trips as a full team to the WIAA State Meet, school record team and individual scores and even a state championship last year for Emily Craker on the balance beam.
