The schedule for Reedsburg Little League baseball got underway last week with action on fields all over the city. Approximately 280 youngsters are playing this season. It was another productive week for the Reedsburg Beaver track and field teams with the Badger West end of season conference meet just around the corner on May 17 in Mount Horeb.

It’s similar to a Milwaukee Brewers schedule of late for the Reedsburg Beaver softball team. Reedsburg is in the midst of a stretch where they play 10 games in 13 days and they played three straight days last week and it’s a similar pattern for this week.

Despite being short-handed, the Reedsburg Beaver boys tennis had little trouble against Mauston on Friday, winning the non-conference dual match 7-0 at RAHS.

Reedsburg has only two home meets in the high school boys golf season and both of them are this week. Reedsburg was to host the fourth and final Badger West mini-meet of the season on Tuesday with Edgewood, Oregon, Mount Horeb, Monroe, Baraboo, Sauk-Prairie and Portage join the Beavers squad at the Reedsburg Country Club.

The Reedsburg Beaver baseball team experienced two tight games last week with one victory and one loss to show for it.

Some good competition was part of two track meets this past week for the Ithaca/Weston co-op squad.

The Reedsburg Beaver girls soccer team experienced both ends of lopsided matches this past week. The Beavers dominated an overmatched Portage/Poynette squad in a 10-0 conference win but two days later, dropped a Badger Conference cross-over match, 7-2, vs. a talented team from Madison Edgewood.

The Sunday League season for the Reedsburg Pirates and Cazenovia Reds in Northern Section Home Talent Baseball begins this Sunday for both squads. The Pirates are home to face Ashton at 1 p.m. at Nishan Park while the Reds are home to face Black Earth at 1 p.m. at the Cazenovia Memorial Park.

Weston took some momentum into Thursday’s baseball game at Wauzeka after sweeping a DH Monday against Kickapoo. Wauzeka, though, is one of the top teams in the Ridge and Valley Conference and they showed why in an 11-1 win in five innings.
