Alliant Energy gives more than $500k for food pantries

The Alliant Energy Foundation raised $515,000 to support programs that fight hunger and food insecurity in Iowa and Wisconsin. The amount is the largest on record in the company’s 17 years of hosting the annual Drive Out Hunger event.

Pets of the Week: Oliver and Apollo

Oliver is a domestic shorthair tabby cat that came to the shelter as a stray. He is about 4 years old. This HANDSOME boy is a favorite amongst the cat socializers. Oliver has it all! He comes to the front of his kennel to greet you and is very easy to pick up and carry.

Baldwin expected to speak in Richland County

Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, is expected to make an appearance in Richland Center.

The Richland County Democratic Headquarters will hold an open house from 1:15 to 4 p.m. Nov. 3. Comments will kick off the event, and Baldwin is scheduled to speak at 1:45 p.m.

Headquarters is located at 900 N. Main St., Richland Center.

Naturally Speaking: Frosted blooms

The Dellona Town Board is agreed to fund a deputy clerk position in the proposed 2024 budget.

The deputy clerk would be helpful if or when the existing town clerk decides to step down.

In his 11th year of stewardship, Madison College President Jack Daniels, III has announced he will retire in June of 2024.

The announcement was made at a meeting of the Madison College District Board on Oct. 4.

Here is one fungus, if mature, anyone can identify with ease.

The giant puffball is pure white, feels like soft leather, is the size of a softball to a bushel basket, with most being soccer-ball size.
