Persons of Interest focuses on the different folks who have lived in Sauk County. They may have been trail blazers or influencers, or they may have led fascinating lives.

Spring Green farm hosts Sauk County Dairy Breakfast

The 32nd Sauk County Dairy Breakfast will be held Saturday, June 10, from 7 to 11 a.m. at Branders Dairy Farm, E3886 highways 14 and 60, Spring Green. The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs with ham, cheese curds, applesauce, milk, juice, coffee and Culver’s frozen custard with toppings.

Naturally Speaking: Woodlot bench


It’s surprisingly easy to make a bench out of wood. Just make sure you choose the right kind. (Photo by Jerry Davis)

All that’s needed to make an outdoors bench, start to finish, is a tree trunk about 12 to 15 inches in diameter and four- to six-feet long, and a chain saw.  You won’t need bolts, screws, nails, wire, hammer, or wrench.

Discover Mirror Lake on June 10

The Friends of Mirror Lake organization will hold a paddle tour of Mirror Lake on June 10.

Gary Williams of the Summer Outdoor Adventure Club will lead the tour at 9 a.m. in search of animals and plants at Mirror Lake State Park. There will be stops along the way to learn about historic locations.

Mirror Lake program will teach fishing basics

A Learn to Fish program will be held 11:30 a.m. June 2 at Mirror Lake State Park.

A DNR naturalist will be at the boat launch to teach some basic fishing techniques. The instructor will also talk about some of the fish that can be found in Mirror Lake.

Gear will be supplied but anyone 16 and older will need a fishing license.

Click It or Ticket seat belt safety campaign begins

As Memorial Day weekend and summer travel season approach, law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin, including the Wisconsin State Patrol, are stepping up patrols for the annual Click It or Ticket campaign. The increased enforcement of seat belt violations runs through June 4, 2023 nationwide.

Sauk County Democrats collect pantry donations

The Democratic Party of Sauk County will hold a food and necessity drive on May 18.

From 2 to 8 p.m., the party will be collecting items for Beyond Blessed Pantry. Donations can be brought to the Party’s office at S4066 Highway BD, Baraboo.
