My question for Michael Brandt after reading his June 25 letter, "Dare to compare," is will we ever see the end of hypocrisy and projection coming from those who fancy themselves as saviors of our democracy? 

Way back when our country was first founded, Benjamin Franklin was asked if the United States was a monarchy or republic. His famous response was, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

On behalf of the Reedsburg Community Learning Center (RCLC) Afterschool Program, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of the businesses and groups that helped this last school year. We thank our oldest partner, Reedsburg Kiwanis, for providing, grilling, and serving hot dogs for the past 17 years at the end of year picnics.

SNAFU, CLUSTER, or FUBAR . . . Pick one to describe the week Sergeant Schultz just had.  Can’t end the war he started . .  The laughable situation with the reflecting swamp . . . Both of these are worse after Sergeant Schultz got his little hands involved.  And finally, the Pope . . .

This Saturday, on the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding, we should reflect on the ideals expressed in our Declaration of Independence, a proclamation of our freedom from monarchy and our commitment to self-government.

What a special and perfect day for a community pancake breakfast at Reedsburg Airport! We are humbled and grateful for the amazing Reedsburg community support. Thank you so much for attending, and on behalf of the Reedsburg Area Flying Club and our supporters…THANK YOU!

Summer in Reedsburg is a wonderful time to recognize the best in humanity.

We see so many positive parts of this community during Butterfest, in particular.

The parade is always a joy to cover due to the enthusiasm of the participants and crowd.

This past week, my wife Janet and I attended the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. A project nearly 10 years in the making, the 19-acre forum now interconnects the University of Chicago campus with Jackson Park on Lake Michigan.

Mom went over to the slow cooker where the meal had been cooking away all day. As the lid was taken off, a shriek filled the air. The slow cooker had been unplugged hours before to make room for Uncle Bob’s famous sweet potato soufflé.

Tears filled Mom’s eyes. “My dinner is ruined!” she cried.
