Two familiar names will be on the ballot for Reedsburg Common Council this spring.

Incumbent Adam Kaney is seeking another term as the at-large alderman, while Mike Gargano is again the candidate for District 2.

Hydrant flushing begins in Reedsburg

It’s the time of year when the Reedsburg Utility flushes hydrants to ensure they work properly in the event of an emergency.

Flushing helps ensure hydrants have adequate flow and pressure. It also removes sediment, which can affect water clarity and quantity throughout the distribution system.

Cazenovia resident makes Dean’s List

A Cazenovia scholar has made the Dean’s List at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

Sadie Keller, a junior, is studying in the Carlson School of Management. She was recognized for her efforts during the fall 2021 semester.

To qualify for the list, students must finish at least 12 credits and earn a GPA of 3.66 or higher.

Reedsburg Public Library reaches beyond its physical walls with the new program, #MyRPL on the Go, an outreach effort designed to bring library materials to those who may not have ready access to them, in area nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other residential sites.

Baraboo car dealer loses license

The State of Wisconsin has revoked the motor vehicle dealer license for a Baraboo business.

According to the State, Fast and Furious Motors LLC, 337 Highway 136, lost its license for failure to maintain business facilities. The revocation was effective as of March 12.

Absentee voting is underway


It’s almost that time again: The April 5 election is coming up soon and absentee voting is already underway. (Reedsburg Independent file photo)

In-person absentee voting is happening now.

Reedsburg residents can complete an absentee ballot in person at Reedsburg City Hall now through April 1, according to City Clerk-Treasurer and Finance Director Jacob Crosetto.

Crosetto said residents can request a ballot online through the MyVote website, myvote.wi.gov/en-us.
