On the Same Page: 19th Century Wisconsin, Loganville Little Library among events next week

The summer is well underway at Reedsburg Public Library. We are still taking registration for Summer Reading Challenges for all ages. Next week is the second week of programming for youth, and many activities are scheduled for adults as well.
Peter Shrake, archivist at the Robert L. Parkinson Library and Research Center at Circus World Museum, will present The Land of Promise: Wisconsin in the Early 19th Century 1816-1848 in the Library Community Room on Monday, June 22, at 6 p.m. Shrake has done extensive research on early Wisconsin topics including the Black Hawk War, the Winnebago War of 1827 and Portage Indian Agent John Kinzie. Join us for a fascinating new look at these tumultuous years in Wisconsin’s past.
On Tuesday, June 23, RPL’s Monthly Book Discussion group will be talking about Anne Tyler’s “Three Days in June” at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. There are still copies of this short summer read available for checkout if you would like to join us. You can also join the Mingle and Muse group for card and board games at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24.
Youth programs will be entering their second week, and there is still time to join. Reedsburg Writers (youth who can write independently) meet on Monday, June 22, at 10 a.m. to continue working on their stories and illustrations. Later in the day, Miss Ashley will lead the teens (Grades 6-12) in a rousing game of Music Bingo at 2 p.m. Time Travelers Club (grades K-2) will be exploring Greek mythology and playing an adapted version of Capture the Flag on Tuesday, June 23, at 2 p.m. On Wednesday, Babygarten (ages 0 to 2 and their caregivers and siblings) will be exploring the zoo through songs, stories, movement and more! Friday’s 10 a.m. preschool storytime theme is Under the Sea.
Loganville Little Library makes its 2026 debut on Thursday, June 25m at 10 a.m. Youth Services Librarians Miss Stephanie and Miss Ashley will meet you at the Loganville Village Hall for stories and crafts. You may also arrange to pick up your on-hold items in Loganville at that time. In the Library on Thursday afternoon, at 2 p.m., Discovery Days (Grades 3-5) participants will work on canvas painting. Those interested need to sign up on the library’s online calendar (www.reedsburglibrary.org) and remember to wear clothing that can get messy.
Stop in and say hello to Reedsburg staff and Reedsburg Friends of the Library volunteers at Concerts in the Park on Wednesday nights at 6:30 in City Park. Be sure to enter your name in the library prize drawing to be held at the concert’s intermission.
Finally, remember to take advantage of RPL’s new seed library, and the free Wisconsin State Park day passes this summer. Ask at the desk for details.
Construction on Vine Street has made access to the parking lot a bit of a challenge in these first few weeks of summer. Please continue to watch out for workers and pedestrians as you are entering the parking lot. Parking is also available on Locust and Plum Streets in the interim.
