Pets of the Week: Smokey and Piggy

The Sauk County Humane Society has unveiled its featured pets, with comments from shelter staff. They are as follows.

Those striking blue eyes and playful energy make Smokey a dog you can’t help but notice. This 1-year-old terrier mix is full of pep, curiosity, and fun. At about 46 pounds and 22 inches tall, he’s just the right size for adventures big and small — and he’s always ready to be your sidekick.

Smokey came to us when his previous owner had to move, and now he’s ready for a fresh start. He would do best in a home with older kids and no other pets, where he can be the center of attention. He keeps his kennel neat (so we think he’s housebroken!) and is eager to keep learning with a confident, consistent leader.

Whether it’s fetch, zoomies in the yard, or long walks, Smokey lives for activity. Give him love, structure, and belly rubs, and he’ll give you endless loyalty in return. He is up to date on his vaccinations and will be neutered prior to adoption.

Piggy is a sweet little guy with a shy streak, but once you spend time with him, his personality starts to shine. He sometimes plays hard to get in his cage, making you work a little to catch him, but once he’s in your arms he becomes calm, cuddly, and content. Piggy loves to romp around and explore new tunnels, always curious about what’s around the corner. His absolute favorite time of day is veggie time — he oinks loudly in excitement the second he hears the rustle of fresh greens. Piggy would love nothing more than to find a safe, loving home where he can be spoiled with attention and veggies — bonus points if his best buddy Potato can come along too!
