Spring Green local lobbies legislators for conservation

May 6th was Conservation Lobby Day, an annual event that takes place at the State Capital in Madison. Wisconsin Conservation Voters invites members of the public to meet with their state legislators at the Capitol Building to bring to attention topics related to conservation issues. This year’s topics included Clean Water, continued funding for the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program, a greater voice for local communities through referendum, integrated Resource Planning for energy resources, and funding to make up for the current federal administration’s cuts to Substance Use Treatment and Health Care. Spring Green artist Michael Connors volunteered to attend this year’s assembly of citizens from the state to lobby local legislators Senator Sarah Keyeski of the 14th District and District 40 Representative Karen DeSanto. The goal of these meetings is intended to provide information to decision-makers on the top priorities of Wisconsin’s collective conservation community. This community consists of over 60 conservation and environmental organizations.
