In the coming week, Reedsburg Public Library will host a number of informational and fun activities for both adults and youth, beginning with a Grown Up Monday Fun Day on June 24 and ending with a Climbing Wall on Friday, June 28.

Grown Up Monday Fun Day on June 24 at 2 p.m. will feature a dried flower craft. Make your own wildflower candle holder or other summer decoration. All grown-ups are invited and no registration is necessary. All supplies will be provided. In the morning, there is still room for youth to join the Reedsburg Writers at 10 a.m. Young authors will work on a writing project of their own choosing over the summer, and enjoy a publication party on Aug. 5.

On Wednesday, June 26, at 1 p.m., tweens and teens entering Grades 6 through 12 are invited to Teen Time, where the group will be making ice cream. Registration is required for this Teen Time event. Learn how to quickly make ready to eat ice cream without a machine, and enjoy the results! Extra toppings can be added.

On Thursday, June 27, join Miss Heather and Miss Stephanie at the Loganville Village Hall at 10 a.m. for their weekly visit featuring stories and crafts. At 1 p.m. students entering kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to Discovery Days in the Library’s Community Room. Participants will be building a take home project from a kit. Registration for this program is required at least 24 hours in advance. Call the library or sign up on the online calendar.

Finally, in keeping with this year’s theme, Adventure Begins at Your Library, RPL is sponsoring its own outdoor adventure! Join us in the Fire Department/Recreation Center parking lot across from the Library from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 28, as we host a portable climbing wall. No registration is required but a waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian at the event and youth must be at least 6 years old and weigh between 50 and 200 pounds to climb.

In between library hosted activities, youth should be reminded to keep up with their summer reading on either their paper or online logs, and work on earning the badges/pins for their summer lanyard. The “Park Explorer” badge/pin can easily be completed by visiting three Reedsburg Parks. If you haven’t done so already, pick up your “Reedsburg Parks Passport” at the library.

In addition to exploring Reedsburg parks, head out to a state park this summer. This year, Reedsburg Public Library has joined the Check Out Wisconsin State Parks at your Library program, sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. One family member must present a valid library card for the family to receive one free day pass redeemable at any Wisconsin State Park. Participants must know the date they wish to use the pass upon checkout.

For questions about any library program or service, call the library at 608-768-READ (7323) or email info@reedsburglibrary.org.
