Naturally Speaking: Winter evergreens

Evergreen conifers don’t seem to be as green as they were in summer and fall. All the leaves on pines, spruces and firs are getting older the longer that stay on the tree, and darker, and heavy, waxy coating, which helps conserve water winter and summer is some of the reason.
