Last year’s Memorial Day gatherings were affected by COVID-19, but everything is back in 2021.

Ceremonies will be held in Reedsburg and beyond on Monday, May 31. Here’s what’s on deck for the holiday.

Reedsburg

Memorial Day recognition will begin at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery on Highway K. Local veterans groups are part of the event, which will include a brief program, volley salute, taps, and performance by the Reedsburg Area High School Band.

In the event of inclement weather, ceremonies will be moved to the CAL Center. Masks will be required.

Lime Ridge

The Village of Lime Ridge will hold its ceremony at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be in the park with a processional following to the cemetery.

There will not be a potluck at the church this year.

If it rains, the ceremony will be held at the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church.

Ironton

Ironton’s ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at Resting Green Cemetery. All deceased veterans, especially the many buried in the cemetery, will be honored. The ceremony will also acknowledge veterans laid to rest in the adjoining Calvary Cemetery.

The ceremony will include a reading of the names of veterans buried in the two locations.

Members of the Cazenovia American Legion McNamara-Jasper Post No. 491 will provide honor guard, and rural Ironton resident John Pearson will share a brief message.

Cummings and Durkee families will place American flags at the graves of all veterans. The flags were donated in memory of Mike Cummings, a Vietnam veteran and board member of Resting Green Cemetery Association. He passed in August 2020.

Resting Green Cemetery is located on Cemetery road just east of Ironton.
