A member of the leadership team at the Reedsburg School District was recognized by Wisconsin Title 1 Association.

Linda Bruun, director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, won the Outstanding Administrator Award.

This annual honor acknowledges administrators who demonstrate excellent leadership in their school or district.

Bruun has 45 years of experience and has held several positions not only in the district but also the community and state.

Local educators had enthusiastic reactions to Bruun’s honor.

“Linda Bruun is an administrator that always goes above and beyond her job description in order to make a difference. Her dedication and passion for literacy and Title I are nothing short of deserving of this award,” said nominator Amy Treptow, a reading interventionist, in a statement.

Instructional Coach Clair Fedderly said, “Linda provides leadership that reflects current research and practice in Title 1 programs. She volunteers her time and teaches a 316 program for the staff, and as her co-teacher I can deeply attest to the fact that she reads new research often. Linda embodies the servant leadership that is required to successfully run Title I effectively in schools.”

According to Second-Grade Teacher Stacy Stecker: “For me personally, Linda has been a role model and a mentor as I work towards my 316 reading license. A license I am acquiring through Viterbo that she is the co-instructor of during after-school hours for a cohort of area teachers. While she has made a big impact on our district and those around us her reach is far beyond the School District of Reedsburg.”

In addition, District Administrator Tom Benson said, “In Linda’s work with teachers, students, families, and the community, her advocacy for those things supporting and promoting literacy is profound. That advocacy serves as a model for others and has influenced many of our administrators and teachers to similarly serve as Title I ambassadors.”

The Wisconsin Title 1 Association is a group of Wisconsin educators committed to promoting and enhancing Title 1 programs throughout the state.
